Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Waiver of DLCs not because of Marvel's Avengers
Eidos-Montréal is a Canadian computer game designer based in Montreal. The studio is had by Square Enix Europe (previously Eidos Interactive), a subsidiary of Square Enix.
In contrast to just a year ago Marvel's Avengers, which built on a live service online model, developed Eidos Montreal for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy on a pure single player experience with strong story. For this purpose, the action adventure is completely renounced on DLCs and microtransactions.
The fact that the waiver of these methods, which are widespread in the gaming world, represents a result of the negative response to Marvel's Avengers, is a conclusion that seems to be obvious.
According to Senior Creative Director Jean-Francois Dugas, this is not the case. Rather, this decision has already been taken at an early stage of development and thus long before the publication of Marvel's Avengers:
When Marvel's Avengers was released, we already put in the middle of production. These are not a decisions that you can do at the last minute. It's something that is part of the vision or not. In our case, we made this decision in the early stage of the project.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on October 26 for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, PC, and the Cloud Exclusive Version for the Nintendo Switch.
