Change Xbox One NAT type - How to play online again
How do you fix a NAT error?
If something is wrong with your NAT type, then you will not hear friends in multiplayer games or can not participate in online games. To resolve the error, first check the NAT type you are currently using:
- Open the Xbox One menu using the menu button on your controller.
- Select "Settings" and go to the sub-item "Network".
- In the "Network Settings" section you will see your "NAT type" under the title "Current Network Status".
- If not "Open NAT" is displayed here, you can only use the online functions limited.
How to change the NAT type to "Open Nat"
To switch to an open NAT and thus access all features in online mode, release ports for the Xbox ONE and use a fixed IP address. This works as follows:
- Enter the website of your router and log in to your account.
- Activate in your router menu "Universal Plug'n'play" (UPNP).
- In the settings of your router, open the ports that your Xbox One needs.
- Now assign a fixed IP address to your router.
- Now open the "IP Settings" option in the Network Settings of the Xbox ONE. Change the Assignment of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to "Manual" and enter the selected IP address of your router.
- Save the settings and re-test the NAT type.
